The Carrying Aid International project and all associated initiatives rely almost completely on donated baby carriers.
There are people running collection points world wide, though we could always do with more!
DONATING A CARRIER
If you have a baby carrier to donate please have a look at our map to see if you have a collection point close to you. If not please get in touch and we can supply you with a postal address.
Here is the up to date list of what we are collecting, and a bit about the carriers we can’t take and why.
*Narrow based High Street carriers such as Baby Bjorn etc
*Soft Structured buckles carriers
*Ring Slings (without padding that inhibits adjustment)
*Close Caboo carriers
We are still collecting MeiTai’s and some stretchy wraps although we have a good supply of stretchy wraps and we are mostly waiting for the weather to improve before we sent MeiTai’s and stretchy’s.
Woven wraps we either cut in half if long enough to make two shorty rebozo’s that we pre-tie, or we sell them to help raise funds for shipping. We don’t use fund raising to cover our own volunteering costs.
What we don’t take.
*Framed back pack carriers
*Ring slings with padding that inhibits adjustment or plastic rings.
*Baba Slings and Pouch
ORGANISING A COLLECTION
We really need people who are prepared to organise themselves as collection points. At the start of the campaign back in September ’15 there were so many places collecting but those numbers have reduced dramatically whilst the need has remained.
If you would be willing to collect carriers please get in touch with us directly at email@example.com
Ideally as a collection point you would process and sort the carriers. Refusing the ones that weren’t suitable and checking the others for wear and tear etc. You would package them as per our instructions and then, for collections in the UK, send them either to a shipment point or to Carrying Aid for shipping.
For collections in other countries you would have to find a shipment from their or organise the shipping yourself. If you decide to collect it is worth thinking about doing a small amount of fund raising along side your collection to cover packing and shipping costs.
We have a full range of information, translated simplified instructions and packing guidelines and support available for anyone involved with the collection or distribution of carriers. Just get in touch firstname.lastname@example.org
